Flash Report windstorm and rainfall damages September / October 2020.
There was heavy storm that blew away the houses, electricity poles and damaging the belongings of people affected by leprosy (PALs) in the Iberekodo, Abeokuta Leprosy settlement.
The situation was very bad and unbearable as people’s roofs were blown away and rain destroyed their livelihood. Nothing could have prepared the PALs for this, with the speed of the windstorm and rainfall. The PALs and their families had to move to the less affected area and the local church.
In all this no life was lost and there was no injury.
Relief supplies was provided by some of our stakeholders, to the people affected, which included the urgent repairs of the damaged buildings, restoration of the electricity and food such as rice, beans and money. The building repairs and restoration of the electrical pools as well as the connections were completed in 10days. It was all hands on deck.
The trustees of Leprosy Outreach offered their vote of thanks to all our supporters
